In 1975,
the Government of India strategically decided to take effective steps
for the development of information systems and
utilizations of information resources, and also for introducing computer
based system (informatics-led development) in government
ministries and departments to facilitate planning and program
implementation to further the growth of economic and social development
. Following this, the Central Government nucleated a high priority plan
project " National Informatics Center (NIC)"
in 1976, and with the assistance of United Nations Development
Program(UNDP) latter on.
Today National
Informatics Center (NIC) Department of Information Technology is
providing network backbone and e-Governance support to Central
Government, State Governments, UT Administrations, Districts and other
Government bodies. It offers a wide range of ICT services including
Nationwide Communication Network for decentralized planning, improvement
in Government services and wider transparency of national and local
Governments. NIC assists in implementing Information Technology
Projects, in close collaboration with Central and State Governments, in
the areas of (a) Centrally sponsored schemes and Central sector schemes,
(b) State sector and State sponsored projects, and (c) District
Administration sponsored projects. NIC endeavors to ensure that the
latest technology in all areas of IT is available to its users.
NIC District
unit was formally set up in November 1999, soon after the declaration of newly created
district, Jashpur. The district of Jashpur is
a border district of CHATTISGARH and adjacent to JHARKHAND .Its a tribal district .
First Move
In the early
stage of its inception NIC Jashpur has successfully completed some formal projects like TRACIS
(Treasury accounting information system),Land record Computerization (Khasra &
B1),Roster base training facility for the Govt. Officials,Internet communication facility
and Internet Extension facility at Zila panchayat and S.P. Office.
NIC Jashpur is
now well equipped with two nos. of server based Pentium machine and two nos. of Client
base Pentium machine.Internet communication is the key means of this remote
district.Hundreds of email messages are received and sent monthly from this unit.Roster
based computer training is being conducted for all Govt. Officials.
After the
installation of Land record data of the Jashpur Tehsil, many consumers are coming to get
their Khasra and B1 nakal in a nominal price of rupees Rs.15/- per Khasra.
